Farsotstider

The times of the plague are upon us, which is basically why my usual transmissions of chaos and madness were notably absent from the airwaves this morning. Rest assured, next week they shall return with due force!

Wotan's Beard! Another Fill-in! (Show 1.5)

Filling in for Whitney in the studio this fine Saturday the 19th, from 3-5 PM. My ears are a bit blasted from the concert down at the Picador last night (Identity Crisis, Havokkrier, and other excellent local metal) because my bloody cheap earplugs never seemed to fit-so, I'll probably be going with a bit more ambient and electronic stuff to ease up the throbbing in my head.

Which means it's a perfect oppurtunity for some Senmuth: A multi-instrumentalist from Russia, his one-man band puts out 6-9 CDs a year (since 2004) of an eclectic mix of electronic, ambient, ethno, and metal. Usually they're a mix of a couple of those genres, although most of his recent work has been in the ethnic/ambient field. The craziest thing here is that he makes all of his releases available for free download, being more concerned with creating music than making a profit off it (possibly because the copyright laws in Russia are utter shite.) Today's first couple of plays will be off his second 2009 effort "rstw", which takes a pretty strong ambient spin on things. You can check out his website at www.senmuth.com.

Show 1

Show's official debut this morning! To kick things off, we had a special exclusive track from Iowa City's very own melodeath band Identity Crisis: From their upcoming EP "Finding Balance", the song "Nonlinear Horizon." The EP comes out this Friday in conjunction with a release show down at The Picador. Go check it out!!!

Sort of a folk metal thing tonight, if you feel like getting in touch with the Old Country.

And for the record, the song I said would be "Dark Song" by Primordial was actually "Tesarul Del Lumini" by Negura Bunget. You'd think I'd be able to think clearly with all the Java Monster I just drank, but the bloody (yet delicious) stuff hasn't quite kicked in yet...If anything I'll be a bit more awake and alert next week; had to get up much too early today to finish up some Intro to English Major homework.

Finally, kudos to Randy for entrusting me with his show yesterday!
